Meeting participants comment their experience on the last environment call. Main conclusion is that it is better focused on certain specific theme instead of presenting “wide” projects. It is necessary to convince the evaluators about the applicability of the results.
The participants show interest on the following issues:
- Primary raw materials (miners, fundamental stones…) in high added value applications
- Reusing – Recycling wastes
- Sustainable concrete & sustainable aggregate production
- High performance building materials
- Contaminated soil and groundwater in natural and built environment – Assessment and remediation
- Improvement of water resources
- Geotechnical
- Natural hazards
- Non destructive analysis for buildings (acoustical and thermal)
- Energy efficient buildings
- Zero energy – zero emission buildings
- Energy storage
- Building retrofitting
- Infrastructure refurbishment
- Real state management
- Re-vegetation of landscapes affected by infrastructures
- Assessment – Decision support system for design and planning process
- Assessment of sustainability
- Implementation of the REACH Directive
In order to prepare the brokerage event of the ECTP plenary Assembly in Amsterdam a template will be provided.
Topic: Benchmarking of sustainability in construction
Development of performance indicators and supporting tools for the assessment of environmental, social and economical impacts of construction products, building, infrastructures and built environments along its whole life cycle.
Output/deliverables
- • Performance indicators for materials, buildings and built environments
- • Performance rating systems for materials, buildings and built environments
- • Weighting systems for sustainability assessment
- • Sustainability classification and labeling process for buildings, infrastructures and built environments
- • Harmonized Environmental Product Assessment
- • Databases and tools for the environmental assessment of construction products, building, infrastructures and built environments
- • Support to and implementation CEN/TC350
Topic: New approach to sustainability in construction
New concepts, technologies and tools implementing from the design stages the environmental, social and economical assessment of construction products, building, infrastructures and built environments along its whole life cycle (research by design instead of design by research)
Output/deliverables
- · New products
- · New building design concepts
- · New infrastructures design concepts
- · New urban design and planning concepts
